"Laser IR module includes additional mounting
hardware for fitment to your existing NV scope
or anywhere else on your rifle."
If you are fitting the S2.5x50 or S50PRO night vision scope to a rimfire or centre fire rifle then we recommend the addition of the 80mW laser illuminator module. In complete darkness this will bring the range of the scope up to the range of your rifle. Rabbits are easily defined at 100 - 150 metres and foxes are easily defined at 200m+. The advantage of the laser illuminator is that the beam can be adjusted from a flood setting that is just wider than the field of view of the scope (that gives excellent illumination up to 75m ) through tighter settings just larger than the reticle (that gives excellent illumination up to 200m ) to the tightest setting where the laser dots reflection is visible through the scope at 400m!
Due to the high sensitivity of the scope and the tight concentrated beam of laser light, no light energy is wasted so this great level of illumination can be achieved with relatively low power. The laser illuminator runs off a single CR123A 3V battery and the unit is very compact (99mm long x 20mm dia). This unit has the same performance as the bulky lamping equipment with external battery packs that you are used to carrying around the countryside at night!
An additional advantage is that in spot mode the laser can be zeroed to the scopes reticle zero using the balljoint mount and be used for range finding, in conjunction with the mil-dot reticle. Due to the easily adjustable mount this laser illuminator is also perfect for use in boosting the performance of add-on monocular systems sold by other companies that attach to your day scope to give useable illumination out to 150m.
Using Gen2+ or better units you can double the above illumination ranges!
